Eugene, Ore.– A new skate park is coming to Eugene. Ground breaking for the Washington Jefferson Skate Park and Urban Plaza will begin in June. The skate park has received support from the city and skateboarding community.

Lindsay Selser is a Eugene City Planner. She says skateboarding is a huge industry in the United States and hopes it will bring skate tourism to our community.

The lit and covered stake park will be 22,000 square feet, making it the largest of its kind in the nation. The size will make it a magnet for competition everywhere.

Jeremy Conant says that once the park is built preparations can begin to plan competitions for skaters.

The skate park is expected to open in December.
