The fourth ranked Oregon State Beavers topped no. 6 Oregon in convincing fashion on Sunday with a series clinching 12-2 victory at PK Park. The win puts Oregon State two games ahead of the Ducks in the Pac-12 standings at 22-5.
The Beavers pulled away early with five runs in the second, fueled by a two out grand slam by Michael Conforto. Conforto finished 3-5 on the day with 6 RBI.
Oregon pitcher Jake Reed (6-4) gave up seven runs, two earned and lasted less than three innings, while OSU’s Ben Wetzler (7-1) threw six full before being relieved of duties for the day.
The baseball edition of the Civil War will be played for a fifth time this season when these two teams meet in what will be considered a non-conference game this Tuesday. The season series is tied at 2-2.

Oregon State defeated Oregon 9-0 Saturday in the second game of the Civil War series. Andrew Moore was phenomenal for the Beavs in Saturday’s game; The freshman Eugene native pitched a complete game two hitter in the win.
Cole Irvin was solid for the Ducks, battling the flu, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. The bullpen struggled for the Ducks, allowing 7 runs in relief.
