Eugene, Ore. – For the first time, the Oregon Daily Emerald has chosen to nominate 25 exceptional students who are changing the world. Top 25 Ducks is a piece meant to highlight and honor students who have made outstanding achievements in sports, art, culture, sciences, and more. The students were nominated by their peers, and a reception was held in the Ford Alumni Center to honor the 25 ducks.

UO freshman Polly Irungu is one of the 25 being recognized for her photography in fashion and African culture.

“Getting the nomination for 25 ducks, I was just like, wow, I don’t see any of this coming so I don’t even know what’s gonna happen next,” Irungu said.

Irungu has done work for the Grammys, shot in Africa, and currently has an exhibit in the Mills International center. The Emerald will reveal all 25 nominees this Thursday, May 2.

Updates and names will be posted on Thursday.
