Eugene, Ore.-University of Oregon’s Student Alumni Association and Campus Greek Life partnered with local group “Friends with Trees” on Saturday, April 13 to plant trees near campus.

‘Friends with Trees” is an environmental organization to plant trees and improve life in the Eugene community. Over 80 people attended the event and planted 25 climate resistant trees in the Western areas of campus. In addition to a picnic, entertainment was also provided by an acappella concert, and Eugene mayor Kitty Piercy also made an appearance to show her support.

The event was part of the larger service project “Takin’ it to the Streets,” which took place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other eventsĀ  included clearing paths around Hendricks Park, maintenance and landscaping around the Fairmount neighborhood and distributing fliers around the Southern Eugene neighborhood.
