Eugene, Ore.-
On Feb. 15th, police arrived at the Campbell Club co-op on Alder St. after receiving a noise complaint. The co-op was throwing a fundraiser for a group on campus, featuring a live band. The police received were denied requests to enter, so they then received a warrant. The full story is unsure, yet it is known that tension grew quickly. Some reports have mentioned that an officer may have been assaulted; causing more police officers to arrive at the scene. Eventually, the club ended up with some severe property damage, the band’s equipment was taken as evidence, and 23 people were arrested. Students attending the fundraiser hope that this news will not bring a bad reputation to the community, because they aim to bring an alternative to normal party scenes. Police encourage students to throw safe, under control parties and if there is ever room for concern, to call the police for help.
