Eugene, Ore.- By transforming crushed, recycled window glass into decorative and useful items, Aurora Glass is making a difference in the downtown Eugene community. From trash to treasures, they pride themselves on utilizing items that would otherwise take up space in a landfill.
The goal of Aurora Glass is to reduce the amount of glass in the landfill, set a positive example for the community, and support the mission of St. Vincent de Paul. Aurora Glass is a part of St. Vincent de Paul’s recycling initiative for a healthier community; where all of the profits they make are returned to the public in the form of affordable housing, job creation and emergency services.
Not only do all of the profit on the sales go to St. Vincent de Paul’s programs, but Aurora Glass also serves as a site for rehabilitation services. By opening up job positions to those with various disabilities or handicaps, Aurora Glass gives the disadvantaged a chance to work, while also giving them the support they need in order to get back onto their feet again.
