The FIG program celebrated its 30th Anniversary on Monday, November 26th with a banquet at Global Scholars Hall. First Year Programs put on the event, which included a visual history of the Freshman Interest Groups over time highlighting the impressive changes the program has undergone.
Amy Hughes Giard, Assistant Director of First Year Programs, said, “From what we know FIGs have been around since the beginning of the eighties we’re looking at over thirty years of FIGs in process, and we know we’ve helped over 20,000 students. We’re constantly changing that’s what keeps us really exciting.”
FIGs are limited to 25 students and organizers claim that participants earn better first year grades than students who choose not to be involved.
