The University of Oregon has become quite the national brand in the last few years largely due to the success of the Oregon Ducks football team. With three straight bowl appearances since 2010, national interest has increased. But does the success on the football field lead to greater student enrollment?
Kelly Talbert, Senior Assistant Director for Recruitment, explains, “I think what the research has demonstrated is that it does definitely get students excited…reach nationally that we didn’t have before.” Yet, research shows that football success might not lead to direct student enrollment. Talbert continues, “That doesn’t bare in terms of enrollment…there isn’t a direct correlation between that initial interest and them actually enrolling in the university.”
It will be interesting to see how this years’ potential post-season affects future student enrollment.
