The Simpsons in Springfield, Oregon?

While watching The Simpsons, has Moe’s bar ever looked familiar? Or does Principal
Skinner’s name ring a bell? On Tuesday April 10th, creator Matt Groening confirmed
in an interview with Smithsonian Magazine that Springfield, Oregon is, in fact, the
true home of The Simpsons. Areas around Eugene have also served as inspiration
for the animated sitcom. Our very own Max’s Tavern on 13th Street helped pattern
what became Moe’s Bar. Other similarities include the horse and rider statue
on the outskirts of Springfield, the pioneer statue on University of Oregon’s
campus, and Principal Skinner perhaps being named after Eugene’s Skinner Butte.
The Springfield Museum has their famous Simpsons’ couch on display and are
anticipating many visitors.
